About lacymorrow.com
lacymorrow.com was established in 2003 to advertise hands-on computer support when I revived a crashed hard drive after being told by a professional technition that it had reached it’s limit. The website was created entirely in HTML, and revised later that year in full flash. In 2004 the website you see now was created using a combination of Flash and Javascript and my services have been updated to support website and application creation. The blog is a standard Wordpress installation with Nik’s Vistered Little theme, edited where needed. In 2006 an HTML version of the site was completed and the Flash version was updated to use the ExpressInstall feature to enhance ease of updating a users Flash version. The site uses the DeConcept SWFObject script to bypass IE Object Activation with backup object tags in a lack of Javascript. There is an automatic redirection to the HTML site in case of object error.
About Me
My name is Lacy Morrow. I am a seventeen year old boy in eleventh grade at Myers Park High in North Carolina. My hobbies include soccer, swimming, piano, biking, and of course, programming. I started programming in the sixth grade with small BASIC games on a TI-83 calculator. After reaching the memory limits of the BASIC language, I looked into TI Assembly, which gave me a start into programmng on computers. I began learning HTML and created this website to advertise my ability to fix any Windows or Macintosh computer, although after awhile, I began looking into the videos and effects I saw emerging on other websites. Flash was peaking in usage, and Javascript was young. I bought Flash MX Pro 7 and immediatly became immersed in it. I used Flash to make short videos like those of AlbinoBlackSheep, but realized that Flash had an entire other side with ActionScript. I learned quickly and began creating websites and applications such as my Mp3 Xml Jukebox. I began browsing google with random tags to find well-made websites and learned the basis of a clean, good-looking website. I got into Javascript and PHP at the same time, and learned each in depth along with CSS, but only used them for building this website. I installed Yellow Dog Linux on an old PowerMac G3, and Red Hat Linux on an even older Compaq that was running Microsoft 3.1. In the eigth grade I was hired by a small company to be a part of a web team, but they required me to know C++. There were several meetings on IM to teach me, but after a month or two of learning the basics, I began losing intrest. I got an Apple PowerBook G4 during the summer to contrast my custom-made Windows XP. I began editing the XSPF Player in the ninth grade, and at the same time, redid my website using Flash working with Javascript and HTML together. An easy computer engineering class gave me time to read through and complete short Visual Basic programs from books. In the summer I began work as a lifeguard at the local pool with a group of my friends, and at the same time was hired by IACMusic.com to customize a player for their website. I purchased an Apple Mac Mini with an Intel Core Duo proccessor and 1GB of RAM and dual boot Windows XP. My previous XP machine is now running a copy of Windows Vista RC1. Recently, I have begun to learn Carbon and Cocoa, as well as being hired again by IAC to create a fully loaded Image Slideshow (the good people there have given permission to make it open source).I am proficient in:
- ActionScript
- AppleScript
- C++
- Carbon
- Cocoa
- CSS
- Flash
- HTML
- Javascript
- PHP
- Visual Basic .NET
- XML
I Run Apple Mac OS X 10.4 Tiger as my main OS, while a custom machine is running Microsoft Windows Vista and dual booting Windows XP Pro. Both computers run Adobe CS3 Design Suite, including Dreamweaver, Flash, Contribute, and Photoshop. Main browsers used are Safari 3.02(Mac) and Firefox 2.1 (Windows) Also installed are Opera 6 and Internet Explorer 6 and 7.If you like what you see here, please consider donating!
